500 days left to achieve the 2010 Target!
17 August 2009. Tick tock, TICK TOCK…There is no more time to wait! The year 2010 is just around the corner. Biodiversity needs you!
Governments are called upon to strengthen their efforts to achieve the 2010 Biodiversity Target in these last 500 days before the target expires. Countdown 2010, its Partners and all other stakeholders will support them in this end sprint towards 2010.
In less than a decade the progress made both at European and international levels has seen some breakthroughs. For instance, thousands of actions carried out by Countdown 2010 Partners are a clear commitment to biodiversity conservation.
Yet, we cannot rest on our laurels…biodiversity is still in decline and we must roll-up our sleeves to do more, and let more people understand what biodiversity means to their daily lives.
Sebastian Winkler, Head of Countdown 2010, stresses that “That complex balance of natural processes which takes the name of biodiversity is our only guarantee to survival. Everybody needs to understand this. In the next 500 days, Countdown 2010 with its Partners will continue mobilizing stakeholders towards this cause.”
